v36.2: A Time for Change

Good morning folks,

-slurp-

Amazing how quickly another week has started.  Before I realized it, here I am back at work and almost a whole week has gone by without posting.  Of course that wasn't my intention, but then again, the world is paved with good intentions isn't it?

This week promises to be a fairly busy week for me.  Not necessarily "work" busy, though I'm sure that will be the case.  This week my family and I are moving.  It isn't anything super major and the primary purpose of the move is to save money and try to get back on our feet again.  Time has been rough on a lot of people lately and I don't think anyone was immune to the economic problems that took place last year.  Things have started to swing back around but the residual effects of that are still looming and causing major problems for a lot of folks.  We've been contemplating this decision for a long time and we finally decided this was the right course of action in order to provide for the family and start saving some money.  I won't go into any personal details but let's just say, life is about to become easier for us financially.

Of course nobody ever likes to move.  Moving can be very tiring cleansing experience where you say goodbye to things you've held on for a long time because the item no longer serves a purpose.  I'll admit that I'm a bit of a hoarder sometimes when it comes to certain things.  No, I don't keep food because someday I may need it; I don't keep useless crap that really holds no meaning.  I keep things like pictures, crafts and other various things my kids have made over the course of their lives.  I don't know why but I seem to have issues with throwing stuff like that away.  It is as if I'm holding on to my children when they were little so I can always remember it, especially now that my oldest is in the double digits finally and feeling more and more independent all the time.  I have other things as well that really have no real purpose but keep them as they are pieces of my past that remind me of other people or other times in my life.  I'll admit it, I've collected a lot of stuff over the years that I could easily part with but if I can find room for it in our new place, I'm bringing it along.

Our new place is going to be significantly smaller than our current house and it also has a lot less storage space.  This means we're watching what we pack very carefully and are throwing away a lot of unnecessary things.  I'm looking forward to the move, but not looking forward to moving.

Anyway folks, the time for me to write has come and gone and now I need to return to work.  I hope you all have a great day and I'll try my best to get another post in this week before the big move.

Cheers,

Al

  2. So... I was just looking at that calendar on the side panel and its wrong. There is no 31 of May (that's why I missed reading this musing) and it shows June 1 was Monday. What kind of calendar is that?? Just thought I would throw that out there :)
